How garage foam is applied
The crew treats the garage as a set of planes, not a room to “fill.” Typical passes: the wall shared with living space, the ceiling (or the attic above the garage), and sometimes the remaining exterior walls. Should I foam the garage door?
Most foam jobs insulate walls, the ceiling or attic above, and the wall shared with the house — not the overhead door. A door is a different product. If winter cars and summer heat are the complaint, say so; the installer may still leave the door as the weak plane.
Is an attached garage a fire-rated assembly after foam?
Foam does not replace the gypsum fire separation code wants between a garage and living space. Ignition barriers still apply. A bid that foams the shared wall and is silent on drywall is incomplete.
