Should they foam the garage door?
Usually no. The job is walls, the ceiling or attic above, and the wall shared with the house. A door is a different product. If winter cars and summer heat are the complaint, say so. They may still leave the door as the weak plane.
Does foam make the shared wall fire-rated?
No. Code still wants gypsum between a garage and living space. A bid that foams the shared wall and never mentions drywall is missing a piece.
Open-cell or closed-cell in a garage?
Open-cell on garage attics and interior walls is common. Closed-cell on a shared wall that sees moisture, on a slab edge, or in a metal garage. Mixed specs happen.
